Introducing the Māhuru Trust

Tahuna te ahi, kia whakakāngi ki te whenua. Hei āhuru mōwai mo te oranga o te whānau

Light the fire so that it burns long into the earth.  A sheltered haven for the well-being of the family

We are proud to announce the launch of Māhuru Trust, a housing development of 44 whānau homes in Donalds Road, Kaitāia that will be available for Te Rarawa whānau to buy or ‘rent to buy’ later this year (about October -November).  Māhuru will be a new community with two new roads and a mix of 3 and 4 bedroom homes including 8 homes with ‘accessible’ wheelchair access.

This is a progressive home ownership programme and we wish to work with whānau that want to own a home in Kaitāia and who are eligible to buy or ‘rent to buy’.

The eligibility criteria are:

  • Te Rarawa Iwi Membership number
  • Motivated to purchase your own home
  • Affordability – Household income for individual and joint applicants $80,000 - $150,000
  • Participate in Financial Literacy seminars and Home Maintenance workshops

The Māhuru Trust team will discuss with you what excites you about owning a home in Kaitāia and why it is therefore important to have all your ducks in a row.

How are we going to do this?

We will need Expression of Interest Form to be completed and on receipt of this Carly Robson will contact you to arrange a good time to sit down, have a kōrero and cup of tea to go through your eligibility to buy or rent to buy.

Or if you want more information before filling in the Expression of Interest Form, we will be running two wānanga at the Digital Hub, 58 Commerce Street, Kaitāia.

The Conference Room is booked for two Information Sessions on:

Thursday 30th May 10.00 a.m. – 12.00 p.m.

Friday 31st May 2.00 p.m. – 4.00 p.m.
