HE TAPU AITU
This is to advise whānau and community that a drowning tragedy occurred yesterday, 27 August 2026, at Waka-te-Haua (The Bluff).
The Maunganui Bluff Trustees extend their condolences to the whānau and loved ones of the deceased during this difficult time.
Following karakia, our kaumātua have placed a rāhui over the area for a period of two weeks as a mark of respect and to acknowledge the tapu arising from this tragic event.
RĀHUI NOTICE
The Maunganui Bluff Trustees respectfully ask that no seafood, shellfish, fish, or any other food resources be gathered from within the rāhui area until it is lifted.
Rāhui Boundary:
- Waipakaru Pou (Northern Boundary)
- Te Ārai Pou (Southern Boundary)
This rāhui will remain in place until Thursday 10th September 2026.
