Nga Waiata o Te Rarawa

Te Rarawa Kaiwhare

Te Rarawa Kaiwhare

Mihi atu ki a koutou

Mihi atu ki a Io

E here mai, here atu

I to iwi

Te Rarawa Kaiwhare … mihi mai

Mihi atu ki a koutou … e te Atua

Mihi atu ki a Io

E here mai, here atu

I to iwi

Ma te Atua koutou hei manaaki

Kia ora ra

Ma te Atua koutou hei manaaki

Kia ora ra

Kia ora ra

Te Rarawa consumers of the most sacred

We acknowledge you all

We thank our creator

That weaves a strong bond

To unite your people

With God’s protection upon you

Life (of Te Rarawa) is assured

This waiata was composed by Wayne Te Tai of Ngati Te Reinga hapu and arranged by Morvin Simon of Te Ati Haunui-a-Paparangi.  Composed to strengthen the resolve of our Te Rarawa people, the kupu suggest to the iwi that with God our mana is assured wherever we go, wherever we may be.  The waiata can be used for any occasion in support of Te Rarawa kaupapa.  It was performed by Te Rarawa for the Te Rarawa Historical Claims Settlement hearing at Parliament (Wellington) in 2015.
